Adoption Info

The adoption process when adopting from a rescue organization differs from that of your local shelter or animal control. For those whom have not adopted through a rescue organization before this process requires a bit more patience than the shelter walk in adoption.

As is the case with most rescues, the dogs in our organization may not be easily introduced to you and your family. The dogs many times are at foster homes which may be distant from you and in fact may be distant from us as well. Some dogs may actually be with their original families and being cross-posted by our organization in an effort to find them homes. You may need to come meet the dog or wait until the dog can be relocated to somewhere more local; which we will happily do if it means finding a home.

RobDar's tries as well to be respectful of our foster homes needs and lives, they provide this service to us from the goodness of their hearts and entirely on a volunteer basis, so the day and time which you may be able to meet a dog is up to the schedule available and is done by appointment only. So please be patient and understand that you may not be able to meet the dog you saw on the internet that same day.

We also have an application, home visit, and interview process that must be satisfied prior to you adopting a dog. The placement and re-homing of our dogs is very important to us. We take this seriously and fell it important to stress the following point…

We try to ensure that each dog is matched with the family that best suits that dog. Our goal is "forever homes". We try to find the right family for the right dog to ensure a successful long term adoption. Just because you have filled out an application does not mean that we will have a dog we feel will do well in your home. The application is just that…an application. It affords you neither rights nor entitlements and not every application will meet with our approval. We have nearly 40 years combined experience working for our organization…covering everything from rescue to animal humane investigation. We know what is most likely to be a successful adoption. We reserve the right to refuse anyone an adoption for any reason, at any time.

If we do not have a dog that meets your families needs please be patient. We keep applications on file and in mind in choosing dogs we bring into the organization. We may not have the right dog for you that day…and may not feel that the cute cuddly you fell in love with is the right dog for you…but this does not mean that we will not have a dog in the near future that will fit perfectly in your home.

The first step towards adoption is a completed application. After having reviewed the application, intake persons will be in contact with you. We will likely ask you some general questions in an effort to get an idea of your lifestyle, and thus what dog will best fit that lifestyle.
